Our Mission
To foster appreciation for the importance of a global mindset.
Come On Out creates life-changing experiences for university students and recent graduates to teach abroad, for students to develop self-confidence and language skills, and for all to become global citizens and grow as individuals. By connecting diverse university students and young professionals with fulfilling opportunities in Japan, we provide meaningful experiences rooted in cultural connections, progressive mentalities, and worldly education. We want to allow aspiring teachers to achieve their goals of mentoring and teaching English abroad.
BRIAN NEUFUSS, FOUNDER OF COME ON OUT
“My passion is all things outdoors. Beyond creating language learning opportunities through Come On Out - Japan, Come On Out English and Come On Out eTEFL, I have had the joy of sharing my lifetime of outdoors experience with others through Come on Out Adventures. Going abroad changed my outlook on the world. I hope you, too, can have this experience through your summer with us.”
Jennifer Hua, 2026 Program Director
“Having been a Coach, a Leader and a member of Program Staff, I am thrilled to be returning for my sixth year with Global English Camp in the role of Program Director. Beyond teaching, some of my greatest joys are theatre, needlecrafts, and dragon boating. This program has helped shape my life mission, which is to improve Quebec’s education policies. I look forward to facilitating what I hope will be a similarly impactful experience for you all.”
Zain Ahmed Kapadia, 2026 Program Staff
“This is my sixth year with the program since 2018. I completed my Mathematics PhD in summer 2025, and my life mission is to be a Mathematics professor at university. I love watching anime/reading manga, watching cricket, and have been studying Japanese on/off for over ten years. Looking forward to another great summer!”
Ruthie Dignan, 2026 Program Staff
“As a passionate language learner and teacher, I am excited to return to GEC for my fourth year! My life mission is to never stop teaching, learning, and researching with language students and teachers, which naturally allows me to feel right at home with GEC. As I wrap up my Master's degree in Second Language Education, I look forward to working with everyone – participants and students alike!”
Jenna Lam, 2026 Program Staff
“Having been both a coach and leader for several years, I'm excited to be returning this summer to support GEC as program staff. When I'm not teaching or tutoring in my daytime job, my life mission is to continue to observe evolutions in education, both locally in my home city and globally around the world. I'm particularly curious as to how technology and AI will impact learning in coming years. Otherwise, you can find me walking my dog outside.”
Taha Chowdhury, 2026 pre-program staff
“It's not an understatement to say that Global English Camp has facilitated some of my most precious moments of my entire life, through my experience as a coach, leader and program staff. Whilst I regretfully can't stay for the entire program this year, I'll do my best to make this one a success. My life mission has changed a lot over the years but my experience with GEC has helped shape it, which is to be able to change hearts with my character and to be a strong representative of my principles and convictions. I'm also passionate about everything tech, road cycling and Japanese Rock Music. Hope the program impacts you as much as it has me!”
Robert Vilkelis, 2026 Program Director Emeritus
“My life mission is to transform education. I am passionate about educational leadership, advocacy, and RuneScape – two things Global English Camp gave me the chance to develop, and one hobby that I can't shake. Since originally joining as a Coach in 2018, Come On Out – Japan has become a big part of that. I had the privilege of directing the program for three years, and I'm grateful to continue supporting it now! This program struck a chord with me years ago; I can’t wait to see what you get out of it, too.”
